Lightbulb wheres the switch for the backup lights?

I have a 78 f150 automatic with a 351M. I have owned the truck for the last 5 years. The backup lights never worked. the bulbs are fine. all of the other lights work. This makes me think that the switch is bad. I have no idea where the switch is located and neither does anyone else I have asked. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You would probably get more views if this was posted in the Electrical Systems area.

Is it a stick or automatic?

It's part of your neutral safety switch either low on the column inside the truck or on the side of the transmission where the shifter rod goes in.
