freeze plugs/ water pump

Hello, I have a 68 f100. Where the top hose meets the block there is a part small bolt on part that has cracked on my block. What is it called? It is held on by 3 bolts. Thanks. Also does it need a gasket?

I assume you are talking about the thermostat housing. Yes it needs a gasket.
