Odometer Memory storage?

It's been a while since I posted here. (so long I couldn't find my registration info and now I'm back to 0 posts.)That's mostly because since I finished my HO 5.0 conversion on my 93 F150, I've had 0 problems with my truck. 14 Months and counting.

That being said, here's my question:
Where is the mileage information for the odometer stored on a 92 F-150?

I'm breeding a couple of trucks together. The donor truck for the dash and wiring one has a LOT of miles. I need to know how to ensure that I get the low miles (true miles) showing on the odometer.

Thanks in advance, and no this isn't some B.S. just to try and "roll back" some miles.

If you have the electronic odometer (LCD readouts) the mileage is stored in the PSOM (programmable speedometer/odometer module.) It can be switched from truck to truck.

It sits in the middle of the front of your instrument panel and looks like a speedometer/odometer.

It can be removed from the IP after you pull the IP from the dash and swapped into another IP of the same vintage.

Do I fel dumb or what? I was under the impression that the mileage was stored elsewhere. (digital odometer) Now I don't worry when swapping the dashes. Thanks.

Not at all. The mileage could just as easily be stored in the ECU so you really do have to ask. (No dumb questions, but I have seen some stupid answers - not in this thread. )
