weak firewall tsb?
I've got an '86 F-150, I-6 and the 3spd "overdrive" tranny..
I bought it about a month ago.. The previous owner told me the clutch didn't fully engage, because the fire wall "flexed" when the clutch was held down..
I do believe it, as, it engages easily, if you jab the clutch, and shift quickly.. In other words, the longer the clutch is depressed, the harder it is to shift..
He told me, that Ford had a TSB about firewall weakening, and that he'd considered buying the kit to do it, but didn't get time, before he sold it..
Does anyone know about this, and what part, or part numbers are needed, how much hassle is involved and what kind of $$ to do it??
I called the "nearby Ford Dealer" and they didn't know anything about it..
appreciated

Check the clutch/brake pedal bracket under the dash. My 88 had problems shifting because the clutch wouldn't disengage. I discovered that the bracket that bolts to the firewall and holds the pedal arm had cracked and was flexing. About $50 and an hour to replace.
