Question Need Tranny Help

I have a '90 F-150, 302, 4x4, reg cab, long bed, XLT.

The transmission will not do anything when put into gear, whether it is OD, D, 2 or 1.

Tried changed from 2 Hi to 4 Hi, to 4 Lo.

Finally got the pickup to move after giving it about 2500 rpms in 1st gear, 4 Lo

What is going on with it? The transmission has 114,000 some miles on it.

Trans fluid is good. I just had the pickup's tranny serviced Friday.

You can feel it go into gear "sometimes" but not always.

Anyone know of a cheap place for trannies?

Mine did the same thing, turned out to be the shift forks in the transfer case wear thin and do not fully push the gear into place. Thats why some time you may get a grind and sometimes nothing at all. Also when you rev the engine the input shaft spinning faster kinda gives a little push or pull whichever, which will engage it and give you a nice jerk, also a few broken teeth on your gears if you not carefull.
The shift forks are about $26 ea. there is a front and rear also a complete rebuild kit with new chain, seals, gaskets, bushings is about $60. Took me about 4hrs start to finish to pull it, rebuild it and stab it.
Good luck, let us know what you find.
