What would get me closest to stock?

Sorry I don't have a tach.
Stock my truck had 29" tall tires9I think) with 3:31 gears.

What would get me closest to how it performed with that combo but with 35" tall tires? I know everyone say's 4:10 for 33" and 4:56's for 35's but that's just a general rule, I want to be exact so I can go with the cloest gears, 4:30 might be better.

So if someone could do the math for me it would be great.

without knowing the specifics on your tires, an approximation based on diameter gives:

(35/29) X 3.31 = 3.99

4.10/3.99 = 1.025 meaning that with 4.10s you'll be 2.5% slower than indicated or 63. MPH at an indicated 65

3.99/3.73 = 1.070 meaning that with 3.73s you'll be 7% faster than indicated or 69.5 MPH at an indicated 65.

Go with the 4.10s.

Or better yet, go with the 4.56s and recalibrate your speedo.

And buy a tach, they're cheap.

4:56's it is then.

As for a tach I'm on ebay daily waiting to actually win a cluster with one LOL, I'm not really for the dash mounted ricer look.
To bad I suck at ebay and all those punks out bid me the last second!

I could careless about the speedo being off, I'll be having a chip burned for that.

What brand and exact size of tire are you running? I'll post the correct calibration constant for your PSOM. It's a 5 minute job to recalibrate

it's going to be BFG A/T 35x12.5x15
I think it's at 34.7" tall.

Your correct calibration constant with those tires would be 8.08.

Read this thread to learn how to recalibrate your PSOM:

BTW I totally brain faded. On a 96, your speedo reads the ring gear speed. That means it is dependent ONLY on your tire size, not on your rear axle ratio. (Ealier years read the tranny output speed so R&P ratio affected speedo, no true for the 92-96 model years.) If you change the tires, you can't make the speedo right by changing the gears. Get the tires you want, get the gears you want, recalibrate the speedo.

OK thanks.

Does that rule about only being able to adjust the speedo 6 times still apply to the 96's? Or is that whole 6 times thing just a myth?

It's no myth. The PSOM will display how many re-calibrations are left
