'96, '97 460's
My .02 worth...I've got a 97 F250HD (96F150 body style), 460/EOD, 4x4, SC LB with a 4:11 rear end. Running a SuperChip, with a Banks PowerPack kit so it breathes about as well as it's going to short of heads and all that I can't justify getting into for the return.
I just got back from a highway run, the only time I've ever measured the gas mileage. It was always awful, and there just isn't any way to make a truck that size with that motor fuel efficient anyway. But I'm a big block guy and so it goes.
Ran 2 hours at freeway speeds, about 80/20 with and without the AC. Loaded up 1900 lbs of building materials, hauled it about 20 miles to the dump, and got about 12.78 mpg or premium for $28.00. Went through the whole rear fuel tank.
My impression is the mileage is slightly* better than it was, so the 10 or so numbers are probably right for stock.
Hope this helps.
