New Exhaust

Well since Cali is stupid and it's against the law to put anything else but OEM cats on a 96+ vehicle with OBD-II computer I had to go out of state to have one installed.
I got a Catco Highflow Cat along with a Gibson Super Truck exhaust, which I get very little cab noise, I'm so happy that stupid Flowmaster 40 is off, I can hear my self think now!

I've got so much all around power it's nuts!
I clocked my MPG on the way there with my stock cats and flowmaster 40 and it was 15.2

And my way home with new exhaust it came out to 16.7

BTW it was almost a 300 mile trip each way to Vegas and 4 hours of driving. About 200 miles on the way back was in 113 degree weather driving through the desert!

Wow!

Did they have any trouble with the AIR tube? Did they have to use high temp hose?

Whats the part number for that cat again?

cant tell where the cat ends and the Gibson begins. Looks like good welding

They used the stock air tube hose and just welded on a new nipple thing for it a little after the o2 sensor pretty much in it's stock position, same witht he o2 sensor.

I forgot the part # for the cat I think catco 1915 but that doesn't sound right...hopefully StrangeRanger will pop in here and could refresh my memory for us.

Looks good....I will admit I miss those dual tips a bit.....I know the guys at the shop chopped them off my old system....I'm glad your happy with it!....I've got to find someone that will make the cat change for me now I've worried about those plugged up things too long... My other issue that I think the orginials may be effecting is my cooling...if I sit still in traffic more than 15 mins I start to heat up REALLY fast and have heard that clogged up cats will cause this...Thanks for the update glad it all went better than expected!!

Pre-Runner you should have seen my post a year ago about cooling problems....I replaced everything to my cooling system, waterpump, radiator, T-Stats, fan clutch...I can go on and on.

Well turned out it was because my damn cats were clogged so I just spent a year nocking them with a hammer almost weekly to kind of break up some of the clogged crap inside.

My truck run's so cool now and stays there...witht he clogged cats my tempt gauge was all over the place...would be below the N...then jump to the A, then back down to the M.

It's also got a 02 sensor bung right in between the 2 inlet pipes.

other then the air hose pipe and the o2 sensor bung it look's identical to my stock pre-cat.

So, you're saying the Flowmaster was hurting performance in some areas?

The Flowmaster didn't really do anything performance wise from the stock exhaust, it just made the exhaust sound like *****.
