1994 F250 Rear diff trouble
1994 F250 Rear diff trouble
ok this is kinda long so bear with me. About a year ago i sold a 1994 F250 4x4 5sp to a neighbor. It has the heavy duty rear axle under it. I think its the Dana 60??? It had like 61k on it when i sold it so not very many miles. What happened a while back is that the pinion gear teeth stripped off of it due to lack of lube, which i dont know where the lube went. When i sold it, it had no leaks, this was a year ago so probably no more that 10k more miles on it. Any way the guy wants me to find a complete rear axle for it. He thinks he will save money this way but i dont know for sure. So i got a couple questions. Where would i look for a complete axle for the truck. Does anyone know for sure what axle it would have, it has full floating axles. Does anyone know a good site that has a part locater for salvage yards?? I think the gears are gonna cost about 300 bucks around here and the bearing kit that includes all seals and the gasket is like 100. So it will be pricy either way. Also does anyone know the years that will cross over to my 94 im workin on?? Im thinking like late eightys to 97. I think the super duty's have a different rear axle under them. Well i think this covers what u need to know. I hope someone can answer a few of these questions. Thanks in advance
it probley has a sterling 10.25" rear in it. I had mine go out twice on me (spider gear pin dropped out both times. So I bought my new gears from.....
......ummmm.....anyway they were great to work with, I bought a detroit locker from them at the same time. They had fast shipping, and got my order right.....dang-nab-it.....who were they??????? Out of california if I remember correctly. It will come to me.......any way it would be considerably cheeper to just put in a new ring and pinion.
