Throttle Bore?

I recently had a maintenence inspection on my truck and it says it needs a throttle bore cleaning.

First of all, what is a throttle bore ( I am a relative newbie to this stuff)?

and what will a cleaning improve?

i believe the throttle bore is the actual cylindrical body of the throttle body.

Go to the parts store, but a can of spray throttle body cleaner and clean it yourself. I am sure it will save you a lot of cash.
Just out of curiosity, how much did they want to do it?

Well; it only takes about 10 minutes to do it, and the can of spray cleaner costs about 5 bucks. I'll let you decide if that is too high or not.
Will it improve performance- Honestly you probably wont notice.
Should it be cleaned- Yeah probably so.
Good Luck

You can also use an old toothbrush with the cleaner to scrub inside and around the butterfly if it's really dirty. And like FORD302GUY said, it probably won't make any performance gain, just a good maintance thing to do to keep it cleaned up. Look around where the butterfly closes for any soot/carbon build-up that might keep it from closing too. Pretty easy and quick to do. Good luck.
