Dyno Numbers :)

I went and got my runs in today. The guy that operated the dyno "steve" was real nice. He tried to get an A/F ratio test, but when the had the thing over my exhaust pipes, they got so hot that it started to melt the rubber boot, and he said this had never happened before, I'm special . We got 3 runs in, and they he did a speedometer calibration check. Mine is like 5.39% off. Well down to the numbers. They put my truck on a scale, and it came out to 5500#, with 2 tanks of fuel and a driver. He used the DMV wind resistance number which is 21.5, and he said that my truck was like a brick going through the air, which I already knew. And out of the 3 runs, the best I got was:

205.3 hp @ 4424.28 rpms
268.3 tq @ 3709.62 rpms

I am pleased with the results, I mada video, but it came out being like 13 megs, so Iwill have to reduce it. Also he did a 1/4 test run for me, so that he could see how the truck was making power through the whole rpm range, and the shift points and stuff. My 1st gear shift is right at the peak hp, its at about 4500, but my 2nd gear is a little low at 4200. The truck pulls real strong i nthose gears, but once its in 3rd, it starts to fall off, it goes into 3rd at 3400 rpms, and the it would drop to 3200, then it would start to rise. Also o nthe dyno runs, he thinks the engine has alot more potential, but that at the high rpms it is getting starved for air. He thinks I need a better upper/ lower intake, so I think I will buy the Edelbrock soon. He also said that with a better intake, and some shorty headers, that it would not have those power hickups that it showed on the 1/4 mile run, he thinks that if I can get more air, that it would help out alot. But hey I think the numbers I am laying down are great for only having bolt ons. The truck came with 200 hp / 275 tq (yes I found the correct number) so I am making more rwhp than stock, and only a few ft-lbs tq less. And if you figure the 4R70W take 65 hp (in the new trucks), maybe less in mine, that with just bolt ons, I added +- 50 rwhp. I will get the dyno graph scanned when I can, I dont have a scanner, and my ddads computer is so slow, I am sure I will get them tonight, and if I can compress the video, that too. So what do yall think about the numbers?

Nice numbers! You have clearly added a lot of power. It would be nice to find someone with a stock engine to run on the same dyno.

Were the figures you posted for your truck 'corrected' to standard atmospheric conditions, or 'actual'? If you ran on a day with good air, your 'corrected' numbers might be lower.

dayum, nice numbers you should really consider getting some heads, like the gt-40's or something, to go along with the intake swap. they will REALLY wake your engine up.

Yes those are corrected numbers. Donate, I wanna get a Crane 2030 cam, and the Edelbrock upper/lower, I think that would wake the truck up alot. The stock cam just doesnt make any power past 4500, and that is where the engine really starts to pull. I am sure heads will come later.

Oh yeah after talking to him more, he said that the peak tq numbers are at suc ha high rom, because the truck will only stay in 3rd gear and not downshift into 2nd at like (70mph according to my speedo) and at that time, I am already at like 3300 roms. He said I probably make them at something more like 2700-2800 rpms, but that the peak wouldnt be much different.

I think i will have to put my truck on a dyno now. there is a shop in town that always advertises they have a chassis dyno on there sign outside. I will have to stop in and check it out. I had my dirtbike on a dyno, it made 46hp in 96º weather, i want to take it back now that ive got it tuned up a bit, and its like 50º now.
