The fuel shuut off (inertial switch0 is located behind the passenger side kick panel, but that wouldn't be it if it started again.

well the damm thing tried to stall again tonight. when i put a load on the engine ( release the clutch) it sputters and tries to die. if i reeeeeeaaaallllllly slip the clutch i have no probs. here's the thing. both times it happened it's been cool and damp. it feels the same way my old dakota did when it had water in the dirtributor cap. so that's my next avenue to explore.

So when's the last time you changed your fuel filter???

Clogged filters start OK because the crap that's in them settles on the bottom, once you get going it all swirls around and collects on the paper element and restricts flow often resulting in the symptoms you are experiencing. That's usually why it will start again after sitting for a while. If it has been more than 20,000 miles or never at all, you need to replace it.
