Question Towing Mirrors

Hi Everybody,

I was wondering if someone could help me find the towing mirror extensions for my truck. I have a 1990 F150 with the two point crome breakaway style mirrors.

I'm not looking for the slide on type of mirrors but the extensions that use my existing mirror so that I can slide the mirror back and forth between normal and towing positions.

Thanks for any and all of your help.

Hi

I know what your asking about...however i do not have current info. where to get. Sometime ago...i got those parts (converts mirror to slider) from a RV parts shop.

Have you tried local rv/trailer parts/ supplies? Later on i saw them in a auto parts store..but dont recall? maybe pep-boys?

Good luck...OT

Yes, finally someone knows what I'm talking about. On the trucks that I have seen that have them installed, it seems like you would un-mount your existing mirror, place the slide inbetween the two-point crome mount and the mirror and then reattach the hardware.

I've tried Auto Zone, Checker & Pep Boys without any luck. I'll hit the trailer shop up later this month as I'm getting the Travel Trailer ready for another summer.

I've looked in several galleries and haven't seen a truck that has them but does anyone happen to have any pics of these?

Thats it. Seems to me its called "extend-o-mirror"?

Used those on my old 88 F250.

Comes with 2 pieces that clamp onto the mirror arm.(mounting bracket)+ Metal flat bar (slider) + screws and set ****.

One pc. on each side of arm...when screwed together..that holds it on arm + forms a groove for the slider bar.

Install mirror in hole on end of slider bar...slide into grooves..tighten ****.

Does work good. Good luck in your search....OT

word to the wise on the sliders

Keep the setscrew threads coated with a little anti-seize...

I have the same sliders on my '86, the block through which the bar slides is aluminum and the setscrew is steel, the dissimilar metals cause corrosion, mine are now stuck, it's penetrant time, but I sold the Airstream so don't need to extend them very often, so I live with it
