wahey, just checkin' in
Hey Old Truck Owners,
Let's hear it for American Iron!
I was gonna post a pic of my '86 F150XL 4x4 but I see the photo attachment option has been disabled
Anyway, I will see if I can figure out how to put the pic in the gallery and I will link to it later...
I have owned the Black Rhino for 11 years. It's now past 147K, uses absolutely no oil, has no rust, no dents, original upholstery, fresh paint, new tires, strong as an ox and twice as heavy...and has quite the appetite (11mpg)
I'm the third owner of this beast. The guy I bought it from at 82K was an ASE mechanic for a dealer (not a Ford store) and took really good care of it. I have tried to do the same. It's been very reliable. I have rebuilt the carb and the frontend, done brakes and tuneups and routine maintenance, that's about it.
It's a standard cab XL longbed, 5.8 Windsor HO (Holley 4bbl) with a C6 auto with shift kit, 4x4 with manual hubs, mild lift (Rancho leveler front springs), tranny cooler and heavy duty equalizer hitch (pulled the Airstream 26K miles so far, that's once around the planet), gas shocks and alloys, with Yokohama 31x10.5-15's.
Anyway...Howdy!
I will look forward to trading tall tales with y'all, and am sure I will find lots of tech help from all you owners of carbureted V8's...

I have always loved the 80-86 body style, but it seems like they are all eaten up with rust. It is really nice to see one that isn't.
