More HP

I have a 91 F-150 with a 302 i was wondering if any one knows of any good mods to do to get more HP and torque. I know i am going to go dual exhaust. maybe a cold air intake.

Cool

Man, that is a loaded question !! You can do all kinds of things to these truck to get more HP & TQ. Dual exhaust (no larger than stock size, maybe even down one size), air intake, electric fans, power pulleys, headers, SUPERCHIP, larger throttle body, larger MAF sensor, cams, heads and an endless list of internal engine mods.

Generally, the three best bang for your buck things are air intake, exhaust reguardless of single mod or dual setup and a chip. I have all three and have found a big difference in the truck. Now mind you, my truck is a 5000 lbs, 20 foot long monster and she doesn't get up and go very well. I was still able to get 3/10ths of a second off of it at the drag strip. Hope this helps.

Have Fun & Keep on Truckin'

It's been my experience that it's much easier to find mods tha increase your top end horsepower than it is to increase your low end torque. The 302 just isn't designed to be a torque monster, especially in a full-size pickup. So dependng on what your needs are will determine what mods are best for your applications. For low end, I would look at gear swaps, cam swaps, long tube headers, a throttle body spacer and maybe a chip or ignition mods. The latter two have been known to have mixed results on the 302's though. For top-end power, I would suggest cylinder heads, intake manifold, pulleys, cat-back exhaust, K&N FIPK, larger throttle body. Other good mods include roller rocker arms, electric fans, and good transmission components can go a long way to increasing your overall performance. Some of the mods work well at all rpm ranges and some work better at certain intervals. Obviously, a mod that increases performance throughout the rpm range is desirable, but the right combination of a cam, heads, induction components and exhaust components can really bump up your horsepower through most of your rpm range. But a supercharger notwithstanding, it's also the most costly. But if the money is there, so are the options.

Go to www.airaid.com and look for the Poweraid throttle body spacers. They list for about $100 and they advertise 5-7 hp and 13 lb/ft tq increase.

TF how do you like your Series 40 Flowmasters? I was thinking of getting Series 40 delta flow Flowmasters. Any thoughts on that?

I have heard the 40 series is very loud in the cab, however, I have never owned any on my truck. I have rode in a few trucks with the flowmaster, and yes, they do sound quite loud in the cab....at least to me anyway.

Dont get Flowmasters they drone alot, and they actually hurt your performance. I had a 40 series and never liked it, I then went with Magnaflow and I will never go back. Plus the price of a Crapmaster is usually more than the price of a Magnaflow Stainless Steel muffler. Look in my gallery for my true dual setup.

I think i am going to go with the series 40 delta flow because it is not as loud in the cab. but they still sound good out side the truck.

Do whatever will make you happy, I personally would never want a Flowmaster on my truck ever again. Plus the Magnaflow at idle is not loud at all, it just has a deep tone, and as you accelerate it has a nice deep mellow tone. And at WOT, it just screams!
