Monuments Shutdown

I am just amazed amazed that the head of the executive branch of this country is throwing a temper tantrum like a little kid. When the government shut down he decided to close all of the monuments in DC to save money. Most of the monuments are nothing more than brick, metal, stone or some other material. There are no admission fees, so nobody being paid to stand there and take you money. There are no shops to staff. The only costs are trash removal and the Park Police. Both of these people are going to be needed whether the monuments are open or closed. The monuments are open to the elements so trash can blow in whether they are open or closed. The police are going to be there to keep the vandals from destroying the monuments whether they are open or not. If the Park Police are not there because the monuments are closed, it would be better to have the monuments opened so people can walk around them to report/discourage people doing damage to them.

I know I shouldn't be surprised, since this does comply with Obama's idea of making things as painful as possible if he doesn't get his way. this is what happens when you elect a child to run what was the greatest nation on earth.

But you just don't understand the priorities. The parks MUST be closed so people like the White House caligrapher doesn't get layed off.

I agree with your rant though, I don't understand why things like wilderness areas need to close either.

I hope the steeple of this country recognize what is really going on.

Justified and appreciated rant.

It's the Republicans fault for everything bad that happens, so I'm sure they're to blame for the monuments closing. It's definitely not Obama's fault; he can do no wrong . . .

Now the dip**** in charge decided to send 7 guards to the monuments to keep people out. That's more guards than I saw the last time I was down there, including a swing by the White House. I'll admit I probably saw more at the White House, but didn't recognize them as guards. I'm only referring to the ones I definately say were guards.

The scum even tried to shut down Mount Vernon. Unfortunately it is not federally owned, it is privately owned.

That's disgusting, and even the liberal media should point out how atrocious that is

That gave me a good laugh

With the gov't shutdown do we get to not pay taxes on the wadges earned, items purchased, and taxes of everything else we do for this period of time?

Oh wait there's still money coming in just like before ... explain to me again why we need to stop things?

This worthless excuse of a president should have been impeached after Benghazi and definitely should not have been re-elected. But the moochers wanted their free stuff, and hard telling how many illegals and dead people voted this time around.

The media is 95% to blame for his reelection in my mind. They completely refused to bring benghazi out. Even after the election, it barely made news. That, by far and away, was the biggest indicator of how far we've fallen and that the media is unquestionably a liberal tool
