VP Debate
VP Debate
My thoughts are that on substance it was a tie. They both had decent points. On style Biden loses big time. So overall I'd say Ryan won. Biden came off to me as being very angry and condescending, then I noticed the vein next to his eye popping out. He seemed to fall into the age old pundit technique of out yelling his opponent. I really don't want a person who could be president to have such little control over himself that during a debate he becomes angry and yells at his opponent. The job of president is to build cooperation. Yelling at people does not do this.
Also something on a personal note. Biden says his religion has formed who he is and he conducts himself in a manner consistent with his religious beliefs. Apparently he forgot the church's teachings about charity since I give more to charity, as a percentage of my income, than he does (and I'm not Catholic or religious anymore).

I also thought it was bad form to bring up the 7.8% unemployment number, since reports have shown that one of the large states didn't include all of their unemployment claims, resulting in a lower unemployment number. Basically, as suspected, the unemployment number is artificially low, but it will be corrected this week and this month.
Indeed he was. I think the dem camp probably gave him a message to seem 'energetic', and he took that message way too far, IMHO.
However, I do believe he won on the meat of the matters.
This is the most interesting election I've ever witnessed.
Hey, 1depd...wait...yep...this is the right forum.
How come you no likey religion no more?

A better way of putting it is with the things I've been through either God hates me or there isn't one. How can God hate a little child? So he must not exist.

Both were well prepared and made their points.
So Biden did much better than his boss.
Biden's obnoxiousness hurt him, IMO, so for conduct he gets downgraded.
The moderator also interrupted Ryan several times just as he was getting to the meat of his answer to her question. Kind of annoying.
Since it was close, I don't think it will help either side very much with undecided voters.

Given the moderator hosted Obama's wedding, I am not exactly surprised. I don't recall her really interrupting Biden but was often doing so to Ryan.

I was able to stomach less than 20 minutes of it. If I wanted to see a person act like a bratty 12 year old I'd go volunteer at a middle school. When an old, balding man act that way it is more than I can take. I what little respect I had for biden after his actions. I will give credit to Ryan for keeping his calm with all the "No it's not" interruptions in the middle of his time. If I would have been in that chair the debate would have been a lot more shall we say lively.
Comparisons
On the presidential debate I do not feel like Romney won. While he clearly stated his plans he did not state how he planned to accomplish this other than working in a bi-partisan fashion. I felt that Obama had better composure and stated more facts and detail with regards to his plan. That being said, I vote republican and I do not agree with the majority of Obama's legislation to date. I do not feel Obama has adequately addressed our nations debt. I hope that Romney does use his business experience to run the government and I think his lack of explanation during the debates is due to his experience at the senior level where by plans are put forth and the deliverables are delegated to committees, a board, etc.
As for the VP debate, I would give the win to Ryan. He maintained a professional, respectful composure while Biden acted like an arrogant ***. I think Biden had some good points but in the end, Ryan's math was easier to stomach in that is was real math and not fictitious numbers spouted out by a man directly responsible for the tremendous increase in government expenditure and national debt.
I do believe that as a population we have a duty to care for those who can not care for themselves and that things like healthcare and education should be "free" for everyone, even at the university level. That being said, how does one accomplish this under a free enterprise system? Education and Healthcare are vital to a strong nation. Taxes are necessary. I would rather pay a higher tax to fund education as opposed to a sports stadium or a casino. That pisses me off more than anything that we get behind people that don't do a damn thing to better society but we bitch and moan if our school taxes go up half a percent.
Enough of that soap box. The current administration is not on the side of the Middle Class. My taxes and expenses have increased. My deductions have been reduced in an effort to pay for big government; to pay for things the population has not voted for.
I am ready for change, how about you?

As for the moderator interrupting, Representative Ryan seems masterful at changing the subject. He really did everything possible to avoid answering the question in most of his responses. (Standard political tactic.) I saw the moderator simply trying to steer him back to the subject. I'd have to say this was the best job of moderating a debate I've seen in a long time, and I did not expect it.
In my opinion, on substance, the old guy beat up the young guy pretty badly, but then I'm old too, so I'm probably prejudiced.

Even the AP said Biden was essentially full of it.
Biden even contradicted HIS OWN State Department on Libya security:

He basically BS'd his way through last night.

Regarding fact checks on the VP debate, this appears to be a more complete list of missteps by both sides: http://news.yahoo.com/fact-check-sli...-election.html

last night was politics as usual.
bidens laughing, finger shaking and "my friend" came off as a doushbag
ryan came across as rehearsed and he avoided answering questions,
Biden wins by as little, we all lose.
