Pretty scary stuff.
I read the readers comments every once in a while. They really are out there. It seems the liberals attack anybody who takes a conservative view of anything. Far more than the conservative attackers. From the ones I've read there are far more liberal whack jobs on there than there are conservative whack jobs, but there are conservative ones there.

Agreed, some true idiots on both sides, including racists.

I guess I am surprised at how many of the commenters are perfectly happy to have the government spend far more money than it takes in, burying future generations in debt.

And if they get questioned about it, they play the race card, blame Bush, attack the unfairness of Capitalism, etc... Anything to defend and rationalize bigger and bigger government.

IMO, ever increasing government and massive debt is BAD, whatever party is pushing for it. If I made that statement on a Yahoo board, within minutes I would be attacked as a racist Teabagger.

The thing that bothers me is people want a lot of regulation. That is fine, I guess (I'm not for it), but then complain that there isn't enough money to go around. We don't have the money to enforce the regulations we have, let alone more.

The problem isn't not enough taxes, it is too much is spent on things that don't pay dividends. The stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me. It seems most people believe that we can keep spending and just raise taxes and fees to cover the spending we don't want to control. This government has reached beyond its ability to pay. I think we have finally hit the point where we go one way or the other. We either cut programs and yes that means some will have to get off their butts and work to stay alive, or we raise taxes to the point that there is no incentive to work and succeed. Hell I'm already seeing free government cell phones given to the poor. They have the option of getting unlimited minutes texting and internet for $30. That is far less than I pay for my phone with fewer features. The people who say screw it first are those who are on the edge to begin with.

he can fool the people, especially the ones that dont pay attention to facts, but how does he fool the leaders of the democratic party? what are they gaining by having the country destroyed from within?

What makes you think that this isn't exactly what the current democratic leadership wants. It has been coming for quite a while.

My guess is a clean slate where they can rewrite the few parts of the Constitution that they don't already ignore.

Bascially, when we collapse financially, big government will be there to sweep up the ashes. With much popular support from those that are dependent on they government, they can 'save us' and give us the system they want us to have.

Basically, our current system, in theory, limits government to enumerated powers. That drives them nuts.

1depd had some good points earlier about government regulations. I'd like to add government sponsored enterprises (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, et...) These are the tools big government gain power over the private sector. Usually it gets started under the reasoning that the government is 'protecting' us from the private sector. Before you know it, costs skyrocket and the private sector has to 'play ball' with their government masters.

They don't see it as destroying America. They see it as making the country better. They got their big boost in the free love of the 60's. What was going on then? Communes popped up everywhere. That is also when many of the wealth redistribution programs like, food stamps and section 8 housing, were implemented. Many of those hippies never changed their beliefs that living simply in a commune was the best way to live. One of the basics of communal living is communism. Everyone gets what they need. Nobody takes more than they need, and everyone produces. It sounds a lot like utpoia. Unfortunately the only time that works is for subsistence economies and on very limited basis for a very limited time in economies that have a standard above subsistence. They truly believe that the reasons the communes didn't work is because there was too much interference by the free market. They literally believe the only way to make it work is by making everyone participate. They are correct, but what they refuse to understand is that not everyone wants to participate. By participating the participants accept the fact that they will never have all of the luxuries that someone in a free market enjoys. Some do not want to give up their luxuries, even if there is a risk that when things go wrong they will lose all of the luxuries they earned.

For all it's warts and negatives a free market economy is the best economy for providing a high standard of living for the most number of people. It does have it's draw backs, but they are far less than those presented by a government based economy. It does have a tendency to leave some people in the dirt. It does have a tendency for large companies to be able to treat workers poorly. I think some of those issues would be avoided by not allowing politicians the ability to collect anything more than their government paychecks and implementing term limits. That would lower the incentive for politicians to become corrupted by the large amounts of money being offered.

People complain that the free market is filled with greedy fat cats. Well you will never be able to get rid of greed, so expect it and work to counteract it. If you do you will be much better off. If you get a fair deal then your concern is for nothing and you will return to the people who give you a fair deal.

One thing is certain, there isn't a more fair and balanced forum for discussing politics than on a pickup truck forum!

One way to stop the commie agenda is vote them out come November. Their being in office is a disgrace to our country.

We have two choices, We can
1. Ask nicely and vote them out
2. Enact out 2A rights and force them out.

Either way is fine with me.

Excellent.

Seriously though, I see nothing wrong with my comment.
It doesn't take a degree from harvard law to see which way this forum leans when it comes to politics.. I don't see how making an accurate observation makes one a "troll" ? One simple observation and I'm sure you already have my political allegiance pegged, right? Because we have to pick one team or the other, right ?

Your name, weather on purpose or not, is hilariously ironic though.

Wow.
Just wow.
Guess your username isn't a joke after all..

Funny how you choose to use the word "them".
As if Obama's "them" are any different than Romney's "them".
This right here is the main problem. My team VS your team mentality.
"Your team failed.. now it's my teams turn"
