Liberal Massachusetts

I'll once again wander into this segregated sub forum, just to let people know what our liberal state of Massachusetts does with our tax dollars.

It's funny how they justify the money being spend fraudulently. They say, well, it was only a small percent of the taxpayers money being squandered. Yeah, that feels better.

Isn't it reassuring to know that Washington DC would like this scenerio to play out in every state in our union?

The fact of the matter is, the gov't cannot be accountable. It is impossible for them to monitor wasteful spending since many of their jobs depend on such. Think about it. If all of the waste in welfare was eliminated, there would be fewer employees needed to dole it out. Not to mention all the gov't employees that would be seeking work in the private sector if welfare was eliminated. Forget about whether you are pro- or anti-welfare.

True story: A family member of mine was hired by a local (not federal!) gov't agency about 10 years ago to cut employees. Guess what? This family member got by with approximately 35% fewer employees, but more work being done. The employees that were fired literally REFUSED to heed the warnings to do more work, take fewer smoke breaks and keep their jobs, or be fired.

This is just one example of how many gov't workers view their jobs. Many of them feel they are 'untouchable'.

Got that right. Ask any of them, they are under paid with lousy benefits and retirement, and as soon as the economy gets better, they are leaving govt and going to the private sector, and nobody will want their job.

Really, maybe one of the 10+ % unemployed in the country would not complain about the job at all, they would be thankful for it.

Going to be a long time before UE is back to < 6%, and I don't know which private sector wants less, long term UE or a long term govt worker....

Sadly this is true. It has several reasons. One is because management refuses to do anything about under performers (the union makes it very difficult). Another is many employees do not want their team to look bad, so they cover for the under performers and do their work for them. This is one area where the team environment has failed.

If this is what you got out of our discussion a few days ago, you read less of my posts than I thought.
