The new Solyndra?

Ever heard of Lightsquared? It's another Solyndra where the Black House has leaned on a Military General to get this company more of yer tax dollars. This Administration is so corrupt and so stupid. Jeez, they aren't even smart enough to cover their own tracks. Anyway, here's the article:

I'm guessing that there are dozens and dozens if not hundreds of these companies that were picked to be 'winners' under this administration.

These are prime examples of why the government should keep it's hands out of the marketplace. The economist Milton Friedman said it very clearly:

Interesting you bring this up. I received this today in an aviation news letter.

OMB Attempts To Alter DOD’s LightSquared Briefing

A confidential briefing on the LightSquared/GPS situation presented by Gen. William Shelton, chief of the Air Force Space Command, to senior staff at the Department of Defense and the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) was promptly leaked to LightSquared. Subsequently, the OMB suggested to Shelton that he should amend his briefing to include words of support for President Obama’s nationwide broadband plan and also state that the GPS interference issue was expected to be resolved within 90 days. Shelton declined both suggestions, and OMB staff reportedly defended themselves by stating that they were charged with reviewing all official statements. LightSquared denied instigating the White House request. Meanwhile, House aviation subcommittee chairman Tom Petri (R-Wis.) rebutted a LightSquared ad that ran last Wednesday in The Wall Street Journal blaming GPS equipment manufacturers for the interference problems. “GPS was located on this part of the spectrum long before LightSquared devised its plan to employ a terrestrial network within the satellite band of radio spectrum,” he said. “I would suggest that it is LightSquared using a part of the spectrum for inappropriate purposes that has led to this dilemma.”
Aviation groups across the country are strongly against Lightsquared's plans as their plans create huge interference issues with GPS receivers. For all the fighting against the encroachment on approved frequencies it always seemed to hit a brick wall. Almost as if Lightsquared had some very powerful anonymous backers. It seems like the White House might be the powerful friend. Before you write this off as an aviation only issue remember all GPS signals have issues anywhere within miles of a tower. The Garmin on your dash will stop working anytime you get within a few miles of a tower. Their solution is to replace all existing GPS receivers with a filter which might reduce some of the interference.

I can only imagine how loud the cries of FRAUD and RESIGN or IMPEACH would be if we had a real, responsible press in this country. Too bad we don't...
