Your tax dollars at work.
I'm wondering if they would've done this for a Republican president. What's the old saying about a snowball's chance in hell?

Move along nothing to see here...Frank, you know gaffes only count if they come from Palin or Bachmann. When they do it they are too stupid and aren't qualified to work at McDonalds, let alone be President, but when Obama says yet another unintelligent remark, we get hardly any media coverage and all the lefty wingnuts want to act like it never happened.
So, I guess this makes The New York Times a "right-wing" news outlet? They DID get it right. If you listen, here's a link to the actual address with sound: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/watc...s-to-congress/
Now, why did PBS leave out the phrase: "Founder of the Republican Party."? I have no idea. Maybe because they simply quoted the speech as it was prepared and released by the White House, leaving out what seems to be an "ad lib" by the President. The note at the end of the "American Thinker" blog seems to point to that possibility. By the way, that phrase comes at about the 28:26 mark in the link I posted. I freely admit President Obama misspoke here. Is it important in context with the importance of the issue he is addressing? That's for each of us to decide for ourselves.
Is PBS in some sneaky, underhanded conspiracy to "prop up" a President who seems all but certain (in my mind) to lose the election? I doubt it. He's certainly not been spared by the people on NPR and PRI who have analyzed his speech. Nor has he been spared by the Associated Press in their "Fact Check" article, titled: "Obama plan uses sleight-of-hand accounting", which appeared in our local, supposedly "liberal" newspaper: http://azstarnet.com/article_12c63ea...8a539fb18.html Those points are far more compelling and damaging than the little "gaffe" pointed to by a far right-wing blog that can't be bothered to spend a little effort on what they post.
I'm not seeing MSM giving President Obama a pass on anything. They just don't engage in the infantile "cheap shots" you find in the hack rags.

Your half right. Referencing Obama, yes. Now ask yourself if Bachmann or Perry made that gaffe if it would have been ignored by the MSM. They would be getting "cheap shots" in for weeks...lets not act like they are above it.

Oh, I guess I see. You're saying they have not made a big deal out of nothing. I concur.
- Jack
They got the transcript right, they did their job, whoop-dee do...I know you will never admit it Jack or maybe your heads in the sand, but you know if Bachmann or Palin or Perry said it it would be all over the MSM and they would be chastised to look like idiots. But when its Obama "they have not made a big deal out of nothing".

did anyone notice the what I see as the real story
d. The President, in a rambling and tedious exercise mixing blame with demands, made quite a few dubious statements in laying out the case for Congress to vote for the plan which as yet does not exist. Much like Obamacare, Congress must ultimately vote for the bill to know what is in it.
Forget the error on founding / joining 2 years later ( I was always under the mis understanding that Lincoln started the party, must be from being the 1st Republican elected to POTUS ).
Yes, Steve, I agree totally with your concern that's expressed in what you quoted there.
And, that fact was pointed out in a different way in the AP fact check.

This thread is about PBS, not the NYT.
His mind is made up Frank. He'll never admit that if Bachmann or Perry did this the MSM would be all over them. Jack thinks changing a transcript to cover up an embarrassing gaffe is no biggie (as long as it is someone he supports I am sure). The hypocrisy of the left never ceases to amaze me.
No point in trying to help him see the flaws in his thinking, as someone once said.

Does anyone here actually think I'm an Obama supporter?
And Frank, I simply responded to the charge about MSM giving Obama a "free pass". They are rightfully not doing so, with issues that mean anything. but one add-lib'd "gaffe" in a 30+ minute speech? Really, isn't the Republican Party often called "The Party of Lincoln"? It appears to me you are all caught up in trivial matters.
I see no point in dwelling on those kinds of trivial matters about anyone; Obama, Perry, Bachmann, Gingrich, Huntsman, Romney, Cain, et all. I'd much prefer to concentrate on things that are truly important to the American people, rather than the silly stuff you seem so preoccupied with.
Take a look at these two "Fact Check" reports for more substantive things to discuss: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...2h7J_blog.html and, http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...g.html?hpid=z1

The inclusion or exclusion of a Lincoln started the Republican party is hiding the fact that Obama is stumping for a bill to be passed, that has a verification level on par with the Health Care law. Once it is inked, it is too late to find out it is not sustainable.
- This is from the CBO report that the Health Care law is missing administrative and other costs, that are 17% of what was projected.
The waivers for large companies ( that figured out the fine route saved them money - and dumped more onto the system that was not meant to contain them ) and unions are removing the source of funding from the Health Care bill, that none of the 111th congress left standing have an answer for. I guess they just will wait for it to implode and get the money from China, better yet the US Treasury....
The Political Machine at it's best !
Quick, look over there shiny bright object ( diverts attention from the person getting mauled by a bear right next to you, and you are next ).
What a functioning fact of this diversion tactic, look at the news the day Daily said he would not run.
The City of Chicago ( in debt to their chins if not eyeballs ) needed another $ 1B to keep the union people working on the ORD expansion project. The board had to approve it that day, and until it got out, all was fine.
Once the news got a hold of this, daily at ~ 10:00 AM called a press conference to announce he is not running again, then the news was all over who would run for the position.
That night, all the news was on the supposition train, and wouldn't you know it, the $ 1B bond for ORD passed ( no it did not make the headlines on the news ). Tell me it is not an income problem, that is a spending problem.
Same as always, keep your head on a swivel, the next reports will be Republicans fight to stop the bill that can save the economy ( this bill the POTUS wants them to vote for, without knowing what is in it ). At least that is how the MSM will position it.
Is there such a thing as a GOOD jobs bill? And if there is, why haven't the Republicans proposed it in the nine months they've controlled the House? Likewise, why didn't the Democrats propose one in the two years they had a majority in both houses of Congress?
These people aren't stupid. Sneaky, crafty, slimy, dishonest maybe; but wouldn't at least one of them want to be the "savior" of the Nation?
Just asking, because I'm totally disillusioned by what is going on.

Any jobs bill is going to be nothing but government waste for short-term political gain and favors for their pet contractors.
The private sector and hard work made America great, not government jobs bills.
