I don't know whats more pathetic, the fact that he actually said something so stupid or the fact that there are idiots out there that might believe him.

A top lawmaker in the Congressional Black Caucus says tea partiers on Capitol Hill would like to see African-Americans hanging from trees and accuses the movement of wishing for a return to the Jim Crow era.
Rep. Andre Carson, a Democrat from Indiana who serves as the CBC’s chief vote counter, said at a CBC event in Miami that some in Congress would “love to see us as second-class citizens” and “some of them in Congress right now of this tea party movement would love to see you and me ... hanging on a tree.”
Carson also said the tea party is stopping change in Congress, likening it to “the effort that we’re seeing of Jim Crow.”
The explosive comments, caught on tape, were uploaded on the Internet Tuesday, and Carson’s office stood by the remarks. Jason Tomcsi, Carson’s spokesman, said the comment was “in response to frustration voiced by many in Miami and in his home district in Indianapolis regarding Congress’s inability to bolster the economy.” Tomcsi, in an email, wrote that “the congressman used strong language because the Tea Party agenda jeopardizes our most vulnerable and leaves them without the ability to improve their economic standing.
“The Tea Party is protecting its millionaire and oil company friends while gutting critical services that they know protect the livelihood of African-Americans, as well as Latinos and other disadvantaged minorities,” Tomcsi wrote. “We are talking about child nutrition, job creation, job training, housing assistance, and Head Start, and that is just the beginning. A child without basic nutrition, secure housing, and quality education has no real chance at a meaningful and productive life.”
Carson is hardly the first lawmaker to use heated rhetoric. Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) yelled “you lie” as President Barack Obama was addressing Congress. Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-Texas) yelled “baby killer” at former Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) as abortion was being discussed during the health care debate.
Carson, who represents Indianapolis, is the second Muslim to ever serve in Congress. He has been in office since 2008 and took the seat that was held by his late grandmother — Democratic Rep. Julia Carson.

SOLVE THE PROBLEM AT THE SOURCE, BE PROACTIVE NOT REACTIVE:
DON'T BRING THEM INTO THE WORLD IN THE FIRST PLACE!!
Lack of planning on the part of the "parent" is not a free pass into my savings/taxes/livelyhood/etc.

I heard about this today on that liberal network known as NPR. The people reporting on this incident thought it was inappropriate too.

None of the Big Three networks evening programs on Tuesday- ABC's World News, CBS Evening News, or NBC Nightly News- covered Rep. Carson's snipe at the Tea Party. The following morning, none of their morning show covered it either.
By contrast, these networks were quick to go after Rep. Joe Wilson after his infamous "you lie!" outburst at President Obama on September 9, 2009. Within 24 hours, then-CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric highlighted the "congressman last night calling a President an outright liar to his face" and stated that this was "just the latest indication of how ugly the debate over reforming health care has gotten." On NBC Nightly News, Brian Williams trumpeted "the outburst heard 'round the world," as correspondent Kelly O'Donnell played up the "stunning outburst" and the "fit of anger" displayed by Rep. Wilson. ABC World News's tease of their story on the Republican's outburst used an almost identical line: "the shout heard 'round the world."

Since we're talking about networks, you might be surprised about the way NPR and PRI covers issues. I was listening to a discussion yesterday about the new oil pipeline from Canada that is being proposed that is opposed by the Republican Governor of Nebraska: http://www.governor.nebraska.gov/
There were two spokespersons in the discussion. One, representing the oil industry and the other essentially representing environmental groups. The oil industry person (pro pipeline) made the more cogent arguments, in my opinion. And, they were given equal time. The host (Diane Rehm) did not side with either, but simply let them supply their respective positions.
Since the pipeline has the potential of reducing still further our dependence on Mid-East oil, it seems fairly obvious the Governor is a "NIMBY". Many people called in with favorable comments on how ranchers and farmers actually benefit from the money they receive from having a pipeline run through their property, and, since the pipeline is underground, there is little damage to the environment. Additionally, pipeline technology is always improving.
This is hardly the kind of coverage you'd expect from a "liberal" source.

I'll preface this and not give anybody a shot at me with the fact that I hear different music and I see a different parade. It's supposedly from my IQ being well above average. I guess legally I'm a smart butt.
But am I the only one that sees that this guy just called all blacks welfare recipients? Apparently, according to him, all blacks are on the Gov't hand out programs and cutting these "entitlements" is a shot at the blacks. I assume this guy thinks blacks don't pay taxes and they don't hold jobs other than at McDonalds. What am I seeing that others of color apparently can't see? If I were black, I'd be after this guys job.

The choice of the word "livelihood" is particularly, um, interesting.
