If everything was done my way, there would no longer be any complaints.

You can say that.
The other Way and Means committee member that comes to mind is Dan Rostenkowski.
Another one that got caught with his hand in the cookie jar, and actually got some jail time.
I think he was one of them that Clinton pardoned in his pen furry, when he was exiting office.

I don't know if the average Joe doing this would get jail time or not. I would like to think they would, but something tells me the individual tax payer that is dodging taxes would not do jail time either. If that example does not jail time, I don't see how we can hold politicians to a higher standard.
I will say he should have been bounced form office, that part makes sense, he was charged with making upholding the law of the land, and is one to violate that trust.

Some of the things Rangel was found guilty of were things the average Joe could not do. Besides cheating on his taxes, he used a rent controlled apartment for campaign purposes. He also used his official stationary to raise money for a building at NYU that was going to be named after him. So not only did he violate the tax code, he violated House rules. Repeatedly and for year after year.

Conveniently, Nancy's House censured him in December, less than 1 month AFTER the November elections, and 1 month before the Repubs took charge. Perfect timing, right?

You raise the issue of should we hold our politicians and leaders to a higher standard than the 'average Joe'? That is a good question, and very debtable. IMO, yes, we should. Politicians have been entrusted with great power and have been chosen to be our leaders. When they abuse their power or fail to follow the rules they impose on us, the consequences should be greater. Throwing them out the next election so that they become average Joes themselves just does not seem like enough to me.

IMO, Rangel should have resigned, but his monumental ego prevented it.

What makes this so funny, is the fact that Stalin is the polar opposite of Michelle and Sarah. You are comparing a gas to a solid attempting to draw parallels when there are none.

To answer your idiotic question, neither Joseph.
