I suspect that if the list was about "the seven types of Democrats", everyone here dissing the evil potstirring Habibi would have thought it was great. They'd be laughing and posting about how true it was and nary a scolding peep from the admins...

Exactly.

If a citizen wants to take some jabs about American politics, that's one thing. But when someone from another country jumps in and starts throwing haymakers, it gets old fast.

It's sort of like private family business. It's one thing if a criticism comes from within the family, but if someone from outside says the same thing, it is obnoxious.

He volunteered his residency info.
How do we know for sure where any poster here is really from?

I enjoy a discussion of US politics because in my country it is forbidden.
Turdsmania has an autocratic form of government and our leader allows no criticism.
But we know he's a Turd just like the rest of us.

Ah, but OUR Turds are bigger than yours! (If you don't believe it, we'll invade you!)

Hey, I love foreigners. They are welcome to come visit (temporarily) and spend their money anytime they want.

The first few times they offer advice and comments about our political system, I'll even listen politely, and perhaps engage them in a discussion.

When they exhaust my courtesy, I will ignore them.

Should they persist in the unsolicited advice and comments about stuff that is none of their business, eventually they will (or should) get told to sit down and shut up.

Simple.

arrbilly - I bolded what I think Blue was talking about when he said, "You are wrong."

Despite what many of you may think, we mods do our damned best to remain neutral in these things. Do we get it right all the time? Heck no! Is it possible to see a "bias" in some of our responses? You'd have to be blind to miss that.

But, I feel very confident that we'd be happy to "scold", as you put it, an equivalent post from the "far right".

OK, I've taken off my "mod hat" now.

Personally, I chose to take the post as being somewhat in jest, and if you can't take a joke.... But, this was MY personal take on the OPs post. You've seen me react quite differently when my Country is attacked.

And, if you notice, I "invited" the other side to "participate". But, of course, "participating" does not mean simple, mindless comments. Longshot was dead on in his response. SSCULLY took a more serious tack and was, as usual thoughtful in his second reply. (SSCULLY's first reply was a great "poke back".) You'll notice I took no offense in characterizing Dems as the Three Stooges too. However, comments like "losing thread", "moron", are pointless and really deserve no consideration.

You know, to switch the subject to Hab's residency, we have very fixed opinions about governments in the rest of the world, and we never hesitate to tell them they should be "more like us".

Why shouldn't we be interested in what the world community thinks of us? No matter how much we'd like it, we are NOT the "boss of the world".

Was Habs pot-stirring? Of course! I see just as much "pot-stirring" from other members. I simply put their posts down to that and ignore them. If you want to say something meaningful in response - do it! But don't waste everyone's time complaining about "what he said".

OK, this was a bit of a soapbox, and most of it was made as an ordinary member. Just my opinion - after the comments on how we mods view other member's posts.

- Jack

Habs' posts consistently cross the line into insults.

A simple search is all that is needed.

I might have a solution.

Since we have separated politics and religion from the "regular guy" GD, maybe we could have another way of rating the posters. That way you won't have to put anyone on your ignore list. Ladies and Gentelmen I offer the TOOL BOX! You can then have your own rating system so you won't be suprised or disappointed before you read what someone posted.

For example in your Tool box you could have classifications like:
Useful tool--some one that agrees with you, or will back you up.
Special tool--someone who is very prolific in one or two areas.
Favorite tool--some one you get along with or know personally.

They could even be sub divided, like:
Proto or Snap-on for the good ones
Harbor Frieght for the bad ones
Left out in the rain for the really bad ones. (this would be just one step away from ignore). Or maybe that should be Harbor Frieght left out in the rain.

I think this just might be the thing to keep people getting their panties in a wad and having to complain to the mods.

Your welcome.

Frank, I'm deeply sorry you feel that way. Why do you take things so personally?
