Habs,

Just for you, I googled for an 'I hate religion' forum. Perhaps you will find happiness there.

For the sake of argument, and I should probably know better, I'm not convinced Habs is "hating on Religion". At least I don't see the poster he put up this way.

I Do see it as an indictment on the hypocrisy of many of those who profess to be religious but turn away from those in need in favor of trivial reasons to be "thankful".

As such, I see this as poking our collective conscientiousness. Do we REALLY care about our fellow human beings, or are we only interested in those "like us"?

There are many Religious orders who work hand in hand with medical teams and other NGOs to bring aid and relief to those who are truly suffering. Many of the people in those orders have paid with their lives. Somehow, I doubt Habs is referring to them in his post.

Anyway, these are just my thoughts.

In all seriousness, man's worship of inanimate objects and let those affect then need to help others. The title of the thread could also be Thank you beer! Thank you astronomy! Thank you vicodin! Thank you iphone! Thank you fishing! Thank you work! Thank you money! Thank you golf! Thank you football! Thank you knitting! Thank you climate change! Thank you green energy! Thank you dinosaurs! Thank you Harry Potter! Singling out Jesus in that way shows serious shallowness on your part, Habs. But who is surprised?

It's easy to take it that way Will, but why not see it as I do - an indictment of the false Christians who seem sooo "holy", until push comes to shove and they really have to BE Christian?

Yes, you're right, it COULD be about any of the trivial things you mention, but I see Habs singling out the ChriNOs here (Christians in Name Only). If that's the case, I'm totally on his side. Those "posers" need to be called out. There are too many real Christians who care for humanity and are willing to risk all for it. Anyone who is in that group will not feel threatened by this.

And, I see no need to protect the "posers".

He can, of course, refute everything I'm saying, because I'm really just guessing and could be totally wrong. I've never claimed to be perfect. I just try to get through life with honor like most of the rest of you.

Edit: Will, you are probably justified in posting the "Beating a Dead Horse" picture after this post too. I've often been accused of doing just that. :o

Those are perfectly fine links, but I don't see them pertaining to the subject of this thread, which seems to be about hypocrisy. Didn't Jesus say something about the "false ..."?

Personally, I'm totally turned off when I see an athlete pray, in front of a huge crowd" for almighty intervention on his behalf. It's not a Religion I want to be a part of. Isn't his salary or promises of corporate sponsorship enough?

I would agree with you, but Habs obviously is not familiar with what Tim Tebow (pictured) does in the off season.

I'm guessing Habs doesn't spend any time in S.E. Asia helping the poor.

Jack, It's easy to single out an entire group when some who claim to be part of said group are riding the coat tails of those actually doing the work. That singling out is also a cop out, and just as sad.
