I was thinking of this in the bed. Mostly cause I don't want to do a full surgery on the front end to mount a winch.

You get what you pay for with a winch cheap ones usually let you down when you need them the most found that out a few times on my quad bought a warn and never looked back. I am a bit lost as to why you are mounting it in the bed of your truck?

Well I would suggest mounting it on the front so that you can use it? I dont know what you would be doing with it in the bed of a truck unless you rig up a system with pullies or some thing and bring the cable from the bed of the truck to the front end of the truck.
Yeah I didn't think about that. The reason I wouldn't put it in the front is because the complicated install that it would require. I already have a brush guard up front and wanted to leave that in place.
if you mount it in your bed, it'd have to mount to the frame so you'd have to cut up your bed, then your tail gate would not allow the winch cable to have the proper angle so you'd destroy your tail gate and winch cable.
if you want to mount a winch in your bed, you probably don't need a winch that badly.
installing a winch in the front is not complicated, if you want a removable one use a front hitch on your truck so you can switch from front and back.
if you had to have one in the back, you could remove your spare tire and have it hidden behind your rear license plate probably. theres a reason most people install a front winch before a rear one though.
