NC Offroading
NC Offroading
Anybody know legal places to go offroading in NC? Im trying to find some new trails... Preferably around Raleigh. Anyone every taken their f150 on Uwharrie? I have never been there, I hear they have several different trails but I don't know if our trucks will fit on them, and I don't really want to pay an entry fee (not sure if you have to at Uwharrie), or break anything trying to fit on those trails lol
THANKS!
THANKS!
well i know you said raleigh but if you head east to nags head nc you can drive on the beach there its alot of fun and you can really do some offroading just tell me if you want to know more.
well first i got to say nice truck, i like the new fx4 trucks but anyway yea if you head south on route 12 towards hatteras right befor the hatteras bridge or across from the fishing center(oregon inlet) you can drive on the beach. driving on the beach is very different from other terrains the sand is very soft you may have to lower the tire pressure but you can always try it first with out doing that. dont even bother takein it out of 4x4 you will sink ive played around alot with 2x4 and 4x4 and with 2x4 you just sink inless you lower your tire pressure then it floats better but you still need 4x4 but anyway yea you can go down into hatteras and drive on the beach to but theres not alot down there like food and stuff but i usually just stay near nags head and oregon inlet. nags head has alot of stuff like hotels and restrants and stuff. haha i just created this account on f150 forums and im 14 so yea i love talkin about trucks and offroading but my dad lets me drive on the beach so i know what it feels like. if you want to know anymore about nags head or anythink just ask.

Look up Carova Beach, it's the Northern most NC beach. I'm headed to Corolla at the end of March, it's just a little bit to the South of Carova. I'm definitely taking the truck up to beach though.

yea ive been there to but its takes longer to get up there cause your only goin like 35 or 40 mph and there is alot more people but its still fun and do you know how to get the pic of my truck on the post thing
Thanks man! Yeah, I've actually been on the beach a bunch. I was just curious as to what there was to do on that beach. I know Carolina Beach there's something like 5 miles to drive on, and not much out there, but still a good fishing destination....
To get the photo on the page here you'll have to create an album, then go into your "edit profile" under "user cp" and link your album there. And then you can edit your signature in there too. If you just want to post a photo of your truck from another website (like photobucket) just click the picture icon in the posting box (looks like a mountain with the sun and a yellow sky) and enter the url.

I'd be interested in some wheeling spots near Raleigh, too, since I'm going to school there. Are these beach locations just driving on the beach or are there actual trails out there too?
Where are you going to school at? NCSU?
Yeah. I met you one time when you came over and showed me and my friend, ford4evrer, some trails around the campus near the beginning of last semester.
I grew up around Raleigh and went to NCSU as well, I'm just SE of Raleigh, about 20 minutes or so from campus (off hwy 42 willow springs area)
I can't recall many trails left around town nowadays There used to be a bunch of fun trails with hills, mud, and ruts but I don't know where any of them are now
hwy 12 in the northern OBX is fun as well, but watch out for the stumps there, I totaled my 01 F250 on a petrified stump out there one night!
good luck fellas
if some of you are around campus and have ncsu.edu email address you can look/post on TWW, there are a bunch of dudes that wheel on there

wingman, I would have to say no to uwharrie. When we took the four wheelers up there it was fun, there are some nice trails but some are very tight. We say alot of trucks and jeeps going through there, but most were just rock climbing and mud trucks, not dd's. I am taking the four wheelers back up there when they open up again though...
