My college runs those SAE Baja teams. We placed like 32 out of 100+ teams. My school is SUNYIT.

Too bad I never got involved, but I got my nifty SAE Membership discount, and I continue to get it because I work for the State of NY. In fact, I get a ton of discounts.

I the SAE membership discount runs about $250. The regular price is pretty high, something like ~$400 for a regular person. I get it yearly because I find a lot of stuff in it that is fascinating that regular people can't get ahold of.

Are you talking Auburn, Ny? I'm rather confused as to where you live.

How much do you pay to build those. That is an awesome little hobby, I'd love to build something like that but I've never even heard of either of those classes in California.

im pretty sure california has schools in this. we have a race in utah i think next spring.

we get a 10K grant from the university and everything else is sponsors. students design and build the cars. the baja is pretty simple, but the formula is very intense, you program your engine, set up abs and all those goodies. you probly could build one for 4k would be my guess if you designed and built it yourself. if i was to build a baja car on my own i would definently use a bigger motor, probly a 125 2 stroke.
