[QUOTE=beaurogel81;3295799]anyone else abuse their supercrew FX4 like i did? if not... DONT! ever.. my truck has been out of commission for a week now. NO MORE MUD for me! nope. no way. gonna buy me a old junker for a mud toy. heres a vid from last weekend. those are my 38's that are getting swallowed whole..

I'm in the same boat as you. Had my truck in the shop for 9 days to replace some emissions control thing. Co-incidentally it was the only part (besides wear and tear stuff) that my warranty didn't cover. Dropped about $1000 on it. Not to mention the other $200 to change out the diff fluids that were full or muddy water. You definately pay to play...needless to say, I'm not playing for a long time again. After my wedding, I'm going to look into an old beater or an ATV for wheelin. No more taking the $40k truck in the mud....At least I'll tell myself that until the next "event".

Also helps when you can do your own work

Saves you a chit load of money at least. Buy the part at cost, install, and away you go. A $1k job easily becomes only a couple hundred.

And Trim got that last part right, easier said then done ! I have a Suzuki Samurai that I play with for off road. Its strictly an off-road vehicle. Still, even when I bring it out, there are times when i just prefer to be in the truck. Plus, when your out driving around, see something worth playing in, you never go get your buggy, you just use the truck.

I just hope this event wasn't enough to give ya a bad taste in your mouth about off-roading. If I could make a list of chit I've broke, well, there could be PAGES. Its just part of the fun, it lets you get "closer" with your truck !

Maybe learn about the ECM, learn about the install, and next time around you'll be able to do it yourself. If ya need help finding parts cheap, or figuring out whats wrong, thats what this site is for. You can alway PM me as well. Good luck to ya !
