Ya, these trucks you guys are showing are mostly massive Mall cruisers

BUT

They do have trucks lifted that high if not more, and they bash on em harder then most of us with our trucks. Yall need to either get out more, or head over to Pirate4x4 . They have some trucks over there that are just MONSTERS !!! And they wheel em HARD ! granted, your not going to be rock crawling, but mud bogging !

Check out this link:
http://www.zukikrawlers.com/showthread.php?t=16618

Its a Zuki forum where I am a member. one guys has a sky high lifted S10. And wheels it AND flexes it out !! Bad ***. Its post # 4

Also, I have now seen a couple rock buggies rockin the new 54" boggers !!
Thats a frickin 4.5 FOOT tall tire.... playing on the ROCKS !!!! Good **** ! And it conquered em with out much effort !

** for the record... definately thought this thread was about something else... and the answer would be NEVER !

Yes but a lift and tires are a lift and tires.

The Dodge Ram Power Wagon
> straight axles
> 5.7 Hemi
> 4.56 Gears
> Electric Lockers front and rear TracRite (i think)
> Electric Sway Bar disconnect
> Extra switches on the dash for other accesories (so you dont have to put ugly toggles in)
> Skid plates cover the entire under carriage.
> 12K Pound Hidden Warn Winch
> The wheels are designed to allow lowering the pressure without slipping a bead.
> 12-15 MPG out of a 340+ hp V8 engine
> Stock 285/70/17' BFG TA KO's

That will out perform a Factory Lifted and Tired F150 Super Crew 5.4 offroad!

Im sorry ive always loved dodge Cummins Diesels and then this truck came out and my dad went and got one and

Sounds better than ANY other truck ive road in! MiniMonster got to hear it and he can assure you it sounds GREAT

Oh those power wagons are sweet! I just wish they put the cummins in it instead of the hemi.

The hemi is nice.. If its just a weekend toy... kinda your own little show truck. But the truck was meant to be a offroad beast so why not make an available 5.9 Cummins diesel in it. Way more torque metter mileage and longevity!

I honestly think it was all just a marketing ploy. "It's Got A HEMI" you know what I mean.

Completley depends on the type of off roading you do, and the vehicle you are putting it on. With the type of off roading I do, plus still using it as a daily driver, a 4 inch is all I would put on my truck, maybe a 6 inch. Proabably tall enough that it can get you through what an F150 can handle without being excessive, but still not to tall that you cant fit down certian trails, or that you have to go 35mph around a curve on the highway.

The F150 is really not the best offroading vehicle...anything more than about a 6 inch to me on an F150 is just excessive when compared to what the truck can do, and pretty much just for looks if you ask me....

Diesels aren't great offroad! Fact, a diesel is a helluva lot heavier than any gas engine. Fact, extra weight while offroading is not a great thing. With that said, I would put any f250 or f350 fx4 against the power wagon any day offroad and I'm pretty sure the ford will come out on top. Yea, hp is great it lets you power through some pretty mucky stuff, but weight, wheelbase, and part strength are gonna be more important factors as you really start to hit the trail. Oh and 285s aren't much bigger (if bigger at all) than the stock fx4 tires.

Ok now you said that diesels arent great offroad! I would agree but when you compare the 5.7 with a 5.9 theres not much difference that the power of the diesel will beable to over come.

But then you said that you would put a f250 or a f350 agianst a power wagon... Ok lets do it. Go get your F250 with the Triton 5.4 in it and we will see. Or are you saying a diesel or a V-10. Now you are playing both sides.

Now if you do a level playing field A 5.7 Hemi vs a 5.4 Triton in a full size truck. The 5.4 is way under powered in you "F250".

Now go get yourself a F350 v8 gasser if you can find with a lift kit and some bling bling wheels and nitto mud graps from the factory. Now match that up with my dads 5.7 Dodge Power Wagon with 36" tires geuss who wins?

And like you said power isnt everything... but also a fullsize quad cab is not a "great" offroad vehicle to begin with. You cannot look at it in the same class as a single cab yota or a jeep. They are work horses that you can drag your trailer into hunting camp and drag it out.

THEY ARENT TRAIL TRUCKS... so let me clarify my previous statement about the 5.9L Cummins in a Power Wagon "would be a offroad beast"

^Now what that statement is supposed to mean and what a person that isnt totally biased in favor of Ford.
.... The truck is a limited edition (as they arent making but a certian amout) most guys that buy a LE are not going to be taking it offroad. But for the ones that do, its the most capable FULLSIZE QUAD CAB on the market.
IF you use it for what its meant for, offroad is offroad be it a dirt road, flooded muddy field, rubicon, MOAB, anything that is not on a paved road is offroad persay. Like i mentioned the truck is not a trail truck... so that eliminates Rubicon, MOAB right off the bat. So if you compare this truck to a Ford F250 or a Chevy 2500 i bet the Power Wagon out performs easily... some of the test could be highway comfort, pulling a trailer though dirt/muddy roads, setting up deer stands in a muddy field, and working on the farm.

Now in those test what says a Diesel platform in any of those trucks would be better... as you arent wheeling them, you are getting your stuff in the woods so you can wheel it.

SO my final statement of the longest post in history is. The Dodge Power Wagon (used propperly) with the 5.9 Cummins would be great offroad! And better on road.

Hope everyone understands that!

trimble's dad's power wagon sounded awesome, however, he could've done with a better muffler selection.
flowmaster-ugh...

somebody mentioned the stock fx4 tire size. my 03 fx4 came stock with street/passenger class 265-70-17 tires. some came with all terrain tires in that size, still passenger load "C" The F-250 comes stock w/ 285's, I believe.

and f250's come stock on 285's
