I had and '03 with the hidden winch mount which bolted to the tow hooks. All it cost was $20 more for the "L" brackets to mount it. With this option you can then get any brush gaurd you like and it would not need to be winch mountable so your option could be endless.

This is the first time I have posted any thing on the site so forgive me if it does not look professional. In answer to your bumper/ winch mount question, I am currently building a front bumper for my 97 F-150. I will try to post some pics. when it is done. Hope fully next weekend . I like the look of the after market bumpers just not the price. Mine is not designed for a winch but it could be easily made to accomadate a winch.

I used 1/4 " for the brackets and 11 ga. 3x3 square tubing . I used 11ga. tread plate for the top and lower sections. I would have loved to used stainless but I could get mild steel a lot cheaper. Laser cutter said he would have the rest of my parts done by Thursday so I can weld it all up on Friday. I am still not sure if I will add a grill guard but it would be easy to do.

A local 4xshop here in mississippi. I told them what I had as far as winch and plate and they said "Yeah $20 for some "L" shape brackets and you are good to go." I guess they ordered them from Warn because it was for a XD9000i winch and mount plate for an '03.

bumper update

I finally got most of the rest of the parts back from the laser cutter yesterday. I got most of it welded up today. I am still waiting on one more piece to be cut so I can finish it up and paint it. I could not figure out how to post pictures here so they are in my gallery. I also could not figure out how to make a link from here to my gallery. My gallery is brad5. Hope to have some better pics. after I paint it. Tell me what you think about it.

are you going to be able to bolt that on easily?it doesnt look like there is enough room to get any tools in there.

Should be no problem to get a socket and ratchet in to tighten up the nuts that hold the bumper on. I have had it on & off several times during the design and build. So far I haven't had any clearance issues, yet. Of course I haven't bolted the completed assy. on my truck either. Anyway, thanks for bringing that up, I'll look close Monday morning to see if it will be a problem.

I talked to the laser cutter this afternoon, said he would cut my piece in the morning so I should be able to pick it up at dinner tomorrow. If I get it welded tomorrow I hope to paint it Friday. Then I'll still have to wait till Monday to hang it on my truck. Of course this is assumeing I get the piece early enough tomorrow.
