Talking Tow hooks for a jeep...??

Alright let me explain...the other day I was driving down by the river and stopped to eat my lunch when a jeep (wrangler) got stuck about 200 yards from where I was sitting. Sucks to be him I thought and continued to observe their struggles to free the jeep. Before anybody starts bashing, I don't have a 4x4 I was not there to go wheelin nor am I confused about my trucks abilitites...but I also am not driving in the river with a stock Jeep. So moral of the story was I am worried about my Karma debt. Nothing I was going to be able to do because as before mentioned 2 wheel drive, no whinch, no straps...and I happened to be in slacks and dress shoes, case anybody thinks I should have helped pushed...not likely so I left. Long story short has anyone mounted tow hooks on their 2wd Supercrew...maybe next time I could lend a hand.

Many people have, it's a matter of cutting small holes in the lower valance and buying some hooks (make sure they come with the mounting hardware, bolts, etc) off ebay. This should run you under $50.

I think he has got an 02 F150. Would the tow hooks still hook up the same way as on his 02 then an 04-06 F150?

I keep one of these behind the seat:

We had a hurricane come thru a few years ago and I had a couple dozen trees down on my lot,
tangled like a dumped box of toothpicks. I used 80 foot of chain and a 2 ton hoist to 'move stuff around'.
There isn't always something to hook to where you need it so, this hook allowed me to use the truck and
position it at the right spots.

Sometimes the tree went where you wanted it, sometimes the truck went where the tree wanted to go.

Come one people, spend $30, cut some holes, bolt the hooks, and be done with it. I dont care if you have a 67' or an 05', just drill some holes in some steel.

2wd or 4wd, he's in a stock jeep, yank him out.

If you want to kill someone, sure, go ahead. Have you ever seen a tow hook break loose from the frame after a ******? Get it bolted with a good grade and welded for reassurance, I've seen some stupid ways to mount hooks.

If you mount tow hooks to the frame with grade III bolts, you probably have it comming.

my two cents...
I never want to be around when someone's hook or strap breaks under pressure.
Knowing my luck, it will instantly hit me in the face.

same here, I always make sure I'm as far away as I can be when I see someone pulling someone out.

It was a few years back, a tow truck driver came to a scene of an accident after a police chase ended up in a sever accident about 100 feet away from us where the driver hit a Pontiac Bonneville and flipped that car over on it's roof. The truck driver showed up to flip the car over to get it towed away, the cable off the truck snapped under pressure and flung back towards the truck and hit the truck very hard causing a huge dent, but thank god it did not hit anyone as they would be killed if not severely injured. After seeing that happen, I always make sure to stay back as I know what the straps can do when they break, you just don't want to be near one of those suckers if they snap.
