Cleaning truck....

After mudding how do you guys clean your truck?? I was thinking about using a presure washer but imafraid of the emblems paint chiping off or worse the truck paint....so any advice would be helpfull. The mud or w/e is gonna be on my truck is super heavy junk, i just think it would be faster with a presure washer.

Coin op car wash (the do it yopurself kind) offers two advantages:
1. You know that the pressure is safe.
2. You don't have to clean up the mud!

How ironic, today I spent an hour under my truck with a plastic ice scrapper getting all the thick chunks out. This is after leaving 3" of mudd on the floor at one of them coin car wash with the pressure washer....and even driving thru one of the gas station car washes with the under carriage sprayers. I have read that some people on here will put the sprinkler under their trucks and just relocate it every half hour or so.

I just use my electric pressure washer in my drive way to get the mudd off the exterior, then I do the undercarage, leafsprings, diff., shocks, frame ect. Then wash by hand and after all that i have to powerwash the driveway to get the mud off. A lot of work, but its worth it to see that baby shine when your all done.

I second the power washer, just dont use to much power on your paint.

I did the sprinkler...put it on back and forth, full strength and left it in the same spot until the water draining down was clean. I got tired of waiting and added a second one....the looks my neighbors gave me were priceless....

"Uh Jim...why are you watering your truck..."

I washed my truck when it was stock after I went off roading and it was a bitch to clean. took 4 hours. No pressure hose. There was mud all over my driveway. I did a little waxing too. I got my lift installed and they gave me the parts back and there was mud all over them. Now that the truck is lifted, it will probly take 100x as long to wash. I am afreaid to go offroading. Especially since my wheels stick out like 1-2 inches. Mud will be all over hte side of my truck. When it even rains I can see the water fly right outside my window. Cleaning the susension is a bitch. I have never used a pressure hose cuz I am afreaid the pressure will hit the dirt and rocks and scratch it but i dont know. I does work really well though to clean.

Gets some nice fender flares, bushwackers (pocket syle looks awsome on the new fords). I put some bushwakers on mine and cut the flinging of mud and water down a whole lot. IMO some mud flaps look to bulky and belong on an 18 wheeler.

Ok, if you know you are going offroad ar mudding here is the best tip I have ever thought of myself (i'm sure its not an original thought so don't go do the research, I just pulled it out of my rear, so I'm sure others have done it)

Get a big spray bottle from a dollar store or a homedepot kinda place. Mix it with half water and half baby oil. YES BABY OIL. You will have to shake it up a lot because they don't mix. Get up under your rig and spray the heck out of the undercarriage. You will be freakin amazed at how easy the mud will come off after wards, or better yet when it dries a little on the way home if you can't clean it immediately. You can just spray the mud off no problems.

I will say on the newer rigs it seems like there are WAY TOO MANY places for mud to hide. Sure the baby oil won't help keep it out of those places but it will make it easier to clean!

Havent heard the baby oil.

Generic Non stick cooking spray works.

When I always got muddy I just waited until a big rain then hit the parking lots where the water was a few inches deep.
