Need help with electronic shift-onhte-fly.
I just bought a 2003 f-150 4x4 with electronic shift on the fly. I shifted into 4Hi and drove around my yard, just to see how it engaged, then into 4LO. After a minute i realized that the truck was still in 4Hi, then all of the sudden, the LOW Range light came on and it was evident that the truck was now in 4LO. Now for the problem. It took me about 10 minutes to get the thing back in 4x2 mode. I have no idea what it is normal and how I should ooperate the system (no owners manual). Please help!
Stuart,
Based on my experince with my 2005, to engage 4 wheel high you simply throw the swicth. To engage 4 wheel low you must first shift the truck in neutral then throw the switch, then put the truck into drive. Now the truck is in four wheel low. Reverse the process to get it out of 4 wheel low. I have used all 3 settings mudding and have had all of the lights come on. Traveling a few feet once you engage 2 wheel drive clears it out.
Hope this helps

To put the truck in 4 hi.. simply switch to 4 hi going 55mph or under.
When you put it in 4 low you must put it in neutral, press the brake and shift from 4 hi to 4 low.
To remove it from 4 low you must reverse the process just like NC fordguy says.
One thing I like to do is backup 10 feet or so when i'm going from 4x4 back into 2wd.. this helps to unlock it.
