transfer case ?

Helping my brother service his 97 F150 4x4 this weekend.

Doing the following:
Plugs
Wires
Fuel Filter
Front Diff
Rear Diff
Transmission
Transfer Case

My question is. Transfer case calls for Mercon. We are using Valvoline Durablend for the tranny. It says meets Dexron III, Mercon, & Mercon V specs. Do you think this would be ok to use in the transfer case as well, or should I just by a couple of quarts of regular Mercon?

Thanks,

John

Anything that says it meets Mercon spec should be fine. I used Mobil1 Synthetic, but the Valvoline will do.

As above is correct. The problem lies in mixing of the two products. They use to say 1 quart dexron to 6 quarts ford type f would change the oil to act like dexron. The main difference before use to be friction modifiers in the type f. Now a days they are pretty similar.
