Terry,

Did You remove the (2) piece d/s assy. from Your truck? Once d/s assy. is removed, take Your hand & rotate the u-joints.
Do they feel like they are binding? Any play, where u-joint is installed into the welded in (tube yoke) or play at the u-joint in the slip-yoke assy?

Once removed from vehicle. Rotate the carrier brg. assy. Any side to side play or roughness in that brg.?

U-joints usually squeak at lower speeds when they are bad.

I'm assuming your truck has an Auto Trans (your post didn't say) .. Since it only occurs when under acceleration and shifting, it is more than likely a transmission problem, possilby pump pressure too low to fully engage the drive band which causes it to slip and squeal.

There is nothing from the drive shaft back that can cause a squeal only under certain conditions. If it was a u-joint or differential / wheel bearing, it would be an all-the-time squeal, not just under acceleration and shifting.

Check your transmission fluid. If it's low, or burnt (dark and stinky), possilby either bringing the fluid up to the correct level, or if burnt, a total drain and flush which includes the torque converter, may solve the problem. This can be done at mose lube centers, but make sure they can drain the torque converter.

I use a 'Speed Lube' center up the road, and they do a full drain, flush and refill for around $90.
