Unhappy CV boot and front axels

I went to the muffler shop today and my guy was measuring for my true duals and he noticed grease all over the front shocks. He said both cv boots were torn and that I needed new front axels. WTF, I just had it in at ford less than 10,000 miles ago and they didn't say anything. What is the deal can someone help me out?

Re: CV boot and front axels

I'd check the leaks myself. I've got "grease" all over the place too. It's from the crazy a$$ 18-year old at the dealership quick lube department squirting engine oil all over the damn place for a simple oil change.

If there is a small leak in a boot, the joint is not necessarily bad yet. Have it repacked or repack it yourself if it isn't bad....Some members here have done it. I'm too lazy and would just take it in to have them pack and put on a new boot......

That someone is capable of determining that you need new front axle shafts from viewing a potential CV boot leak is a new one on me....But maybe I'm missing something.....
