Rear Gearing question
I am new to this site,, so I am sorry if this has been asked and answered before. I am getting a 1995 F-150 with a 5.0 liter 302, and an automatic trans. My question is would anyone know what rear gears came in the from the fact ? And what kind of gas mileage ,, city and highway can I expect ? I would be hauling just myself ( which is 200lbs) !
Thank you in advance for any answers I might get,,
outside of telling me where to stick it !!!
Thanks,,, Dondo

Not for sure what would have came stock in the 1995, F-150. If I had to guess, I would guess 3.08 or 3.55. Look at the axle code on the driver side door sticker and post what axle code is on the sticker. H9= 3.55 L/S. 19= 3.55 open. I can't remember the other axle code breakdowns; however, someone here will help.
If I had to guess on MPG, 14 MPG city and 19MPG highway ??
If You want to go under the truck: look for tag on diff. cover ( should be attached to a bolt at 2 O' clock). Let us know what the numbers on the bottom line of the tag are. For example: if tag bottom line reads 3L55 8.8. Then your axle should be 3.55 limited slip, 8.8" ring gear diameter. The top line numbers, to the right, indicated build date of axle assy. Example: 5b01 would indicate the axle assy. was built on 2/05/95. Checking this # with estimated build date on VIN sticker could indicate if somone has changed complete axle assy. on vehicle.
