Question 4:10s! a good idea?

I just orderd 4:10 gears and wanted to know about anyones experience with them. I have the 4.6 auto and wanted some more power off the line. I had planned on doing a superchip along with the hear sawp so that everything is calibrtated and I can change some ship points and rev limits. Also, will my truck's revs run real high if im on the interstate at like 80-90mph? Any help would be much apreciated

I also posted this in the trans section.
I have 4:30's and love them. My set-up is simular to yours. Yes there are some problems associated with having 4:10 gears but they are minimal. If you don't have a quality LS rear then now is the time to get one since it will cost very little more for the install (the carrier will have to be removed anyway). Beleave me when I say you will love them.

You can find it at this web site:

http://www.prestigious1.com/

It is in the air dams section model AD202
Cost $75 but shipping is higher then normal because it is fiberglass. Very good quality. First I had it coated by Rhino Linings then I put Eagle Eyes 100mm superwhites in it.

Have fun.

It depends on your tires and your stock gearing... You will be running higher rpms on the freeway in the neighborhood of +200-500 depending on your original gearing, and whether or not you are changing, or have changed the size of your tires...

I also agree that it is the perfect time to do an aftermarket L/S or Locker!

The custom burn on the SuperChip would be suggested if you have a 99+ truck for your Speedo/Odo and Tranny (shift points)...

With a 97 or 98 truck you can get a new VSS gear to correct most of that...
