Post Driveshaft

I have a 98 supercab and the driveshaft starts a violent shake at 89mph and up at 88 it is perfect. does anyone know the fix? Ford says thats too fast for the truck and I should not drive it that fast. BS!!!! When I have to pass a few semi's on a highway you can bet I want to get around them as fast as possible.

sounds like the drive shaft is out of balance, get under the truck look to see if there is a weight on the shaft or not. It should have one at one end of the shaft, very few evewr balance perfect from the factory. If you don`t find one go to your dealer. Plus you may have a bad slip-yoke on the front of the shaft as well. Mine was bad on my truck, there`s a TBS on this problem.I hope I`ve helped you....LARIAT 1

cujet,

there's a good thread in the tires and wheels section under vibration I think. It's 2 pages long.

I had a GM car that did the same thing. I looked in the yellow pages and found a shop that balances driveshafts. It solved the vibration problem and didn't cost too much.
