Post Rear seal replacement

I have a 1994 F-Super Duty (33 foot motorhome) that has had 3 rear seals go bad in the last 18 months. I have 24,000 miles on it and the first seal went out at 19,500 miles.

Could bad differential oil cause this? The oil in the diff. is a dark brown (almost black) color. Dealer says "Oh well! sometimes they just go bad". 3 of them in 18 mos.??? Gimme a break!

$250 a crack to replace them. Are they that difficult to replace? I looked at the diagram and cannot determine if I would have to pull the rotors in order to replace the seal. I am very mechanically inclined but have never tinkered with rear seals before.

Any help or advice on this would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Having (3) seals go bad in that period of time leads me to believe something else is wrong with your vehicle.
I have seen many problems with Ford motorhome chassis built from 1992 & up. Most of the problems seem to be driveshaft angularity & suspension related.
Many times these motorhome chassis are sent from the production facility as an incomplete vehicle (sold by FOMOCO & you can check you door tag--which will usually indicate this). After wheelbase is changed (by whomever finishes vehicle); many times the vehicle finisher does not get the driveshaft angularity within specification to prevent seal leakage & driveline vibration.
I have seen this on motorhome chassis with S-135 (Dana) removeable hog-head type diff., Dana 80 & Dana 70 model differentials Which are integerally type differentials.
For some reason, Ford doesn't seem to use their 10.25: Sterling axle on motorhomes.
I think you may need to seek the aid of a professional in the driveline field to accuratly cure your problem.
