Question Carrier Bearing F150 1994

I need to change the carrier bearing in my 1994 F-150. It has a 2 piece driveshaft. Can these be changed with normal hand tools or does the bearing have to be pressed on or off?

Normal hand tools should do it. This is what my manual says:

1) remove driveshaft assy.

2) seperate the shaft sections at the center bearing, remove the bearing dust shield.

3) Remove the strap that retains the rubber cushion to the bearing support bracket.

4) seperate the cushion, bracket and bearing.

5) pull the bearing assy. from the driveshaft.

6) Replace worn components

7) Pack the space between the inner dust deflecter and the bearing with lithium grease.

8) Tap the bearing and slinger assy. onto the driveshaft journal until the components are tight against the shoulder on the shaft. Usa a suitable piece of tubing to do this, be careful not to damage the splines.

9) install dust shield

10) install bearing cushion, bracket, and strap

11) reconnect driveshafts.

Btw make sure you mark the driveshaft/differental so it goes in lined up the same way, otherwise you will get vibrations.
