2004 FX4 Scab; the shifter doesn't stop at the different gear detentes, the button just bounces around as if there's no spring inside. When I put it in park and attempt to shut off ignition, I have to use middle finger, ring finger and pinky to pull button forward and lock in place. Any suggestions/solutions?

 

Looks like its been upgraded for faster shifting


The shifters have several common issues/failures with them, gonna be a couple hundred bucks for a new one at the dealership

 

I recommend going to a junkyard and picking up an entire console and keeping it for parts.
