Ford 8.8 4.10 reverse cut source and installation question
Ford 4.10s for the rear are available through Ford for a great price. I want Ford quality for the front, but can only find aftermarket 4.10s at a much higher price. When I get quotes for full installation on the front, the price is always lower, leading me to believe there is some source for a cost effective front. What am I missing?
I have found a reputable someone locally to swap the rears at a great price, but he has not done an f150 front. In my Ford service manual it shows a "spreader" being used to remove the front. Is this really required? I have seen no mention anywhere else of special tools being needed exclusively for the front ring gear removal.
Thanks
