37s or 38s and gears.

Im gonna be gearing my truck in the next few weeks. Currently rolling on 35s but when they're gone, which will be soon ill be throwing 37s or 38s on haven't decided yet. I know all about gearing calculators and rpms torque multiplication and u name it. So no need to do any schooling, this is more for a friendly discussion.

Im pretty much set on 4.88s (rolling 4.10s now). I dont do a whole lot of highway driving. Some but not much. When I do its never more then 45 min or so. Usually less then 20 minutes pulling the boat which weighs about 2800. I know 4.88s will be about perfect for what I do but im having this nagging urge in the back of my mind to go 5.13s. Lol. Go big or go home right? Ill probably just got 4.88s but, im hoping u guys can talk me out of going 5.13s lol. Got a 5.4 with troyers tunes and Magna flow siso and af1 intake.

with you not doing a lot of highway driving i would say 5.13s wouldnt be a "bad" idea. it may even help that tranny. curious, what kind of rpm difference would there be at 60 between the two?

About a 100 rpm jump between 4.56, 4.88 and 5.13s. With 37s and 5.13s at 60 id be at about 2k.

oh thats not bad at all. 100 rpms difference on the freeway, and all the rest is more fun and maybe even better mpgs in town
