1993 F150 XLT 4x4 transfer case

I have a 1993 F150 XLT 4x4. Whenever I accelerate from a dead stop I get a popping noise. I was told that it is the transfer case chain. I only notice it in 2wd and it only happens when I give it some gas. It doesn't do it if I ease it into drive. Other than this the truck runs strong. What could this noise possibly be?

Check slip yoke on driveshaft and Cab, body mounts.

Thanks. I will definitely check that out. It has to be cheaper than a new transfer case.
