I've done some digging on this but I'm still unsure.

I plan to finish my system this year (5 channel amp - 4 speakers and a 10" sub) and have my OEM fog light bumper swap completed. The fogs will be wired to a non factory switch panel instead of the light switch in the dash. Those are the only two "extras" I have planned for the time being. I have read a lot of good things about the DieHard Platinum P2 esp the 930cca's which is a nice thing. I have a friend who can get me 20% off new Optima Yellow tops as well. What do you guys recommend? I just want a battery that will be able to handle what I plan to add and it do well. The P2 goes for 210 here which I think is an awful lot of a battery, but it has great ratings.

Any other brand recommendations?

John, personally I would go with the optima yellow top, that's what im getting when my energizer craps out. I have heard good things about the die hard too though...

 

I'm gonna be in the market for a new battery this year, and the Die Hard is at the top of my list...

 

Yea there's been to many problems with the Yellow and Red tops IMO.
Nice looking battery's tho.

Diehard has been #1 for awhile now, since it seams like most others have went cheap with their product.

You'll pay a little more for one, but at least you'll get a quality product.

 

I'd say an optima yellow or red top.

 

Are interstate batteries still good? I had one a long time ago that lasted for years.

 

I'm on my foourth red top Optima in three vehicles over the past X number of years and never ever had a problem. In fact, I've never owned another battery since I started using them in '00.

 

I had the Optima yellow top in my expedition to power my system and motorcraft for the vehicle electronics. I'd go yellow top(900cca) or even a blue top(800cca) with the discount you're getting...

 

Just want to add this for what it's worth: Consumer reports rates the DieHard as the best.

 

Optimas are junk. Sears Platinum are re-labeled Odyssey batteries. They have more reserve and cca than any other battery for the same size. They also use pure lead, not lead and fillers. Go to Odyssey website and read the specs. Well worth the $$$. Optima has gone through some corporate changes and the product has diminished. The military has used them for years.........Odyssey, that is.

 

Isn't this reason enough to get one Best looking battery out there, and sometimes that matters!



Another subject where everyone's got an opinion and a good or back luck story. Either way, I think that's an extreme statement. Like I said earlier...never a problem, ever.

 

I'm with you... Ran that Optima Yellow for 4yrs until I sold the truck with no issues what so ever. Those are pretty good batteries.....

edit: Just looked at the Die Hard... Never heard of it till now... The specs are the same as the Optima... I'm guessing they are equally the same. The Die hard would fit better into the slot with the cover over it plus a few extra cca....

Can you find a Duralast anywhere except Autozone?
