You can only get this at sears and Kmart?? WTH??
Yes, it is a Sears DieHard brand, but the Platinum is made for them by Odyssey.

The military has used them for years.........Odyssey, that is.
This guy.

I have two Interstate deep cycle batteries on my trailer. My trailer sat for over a year and the generator fired right up. Never had a problem out of them. Only other battery I've ever had before switching to Optima.

Meijer is a regional chain of stores like Walmart, based in Michigan.

You can find Odyssey batteries at Batteries Plus. Here's a dealer locator:

This thread comes up a few times a year and the winning answer is always the same: Odyssey/DieHard Platminum.

Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) technology (Platinums, Optimas and Kinetiks) vs. Lead Filled (every other battery out there) means higher shock resistance, lower maintenance, longer charges and most importantly, super high cranking amps. Also Platinums use flat pure lead plates vs spiraled plates used by Optimas which mean more surface area to hold a charge as well as dissipate a charge over time. There is a ton of info about AGM style batteries and Odyssey/DieHard Platminums on the interwebs...check it:

Odyssey Battery Home

Also, MSalle turned me on to Kinetik batteries...very cool as well and worth checking out. For me though, it doesn't get any easier than driving to the nearest Sears and picking up a Platinum. So now both F150 and boat have them and I have the highest confidence that they will crank both with no problems at all. (The Tahoe has a DieHard Gold, hahaha!).

Holy Cow...did some research on the Odyssey equivalent to the Optima I've been using for years, just cause you guys got me curious. The Odyssey is on average $80+ more than the Optima and 11 lbs heavier! The Sears version (at sears.com) of the same battery is much cheaper than its Odyssey equivalent, but that's with an exchange. Don't know about straight out. From summit, the Odyssey is $110 more than the Optima (for a 34/78 battery)

I paid $188.99+tax for that sears diehard platinum. I have gotten 9 yrs out of a interstate mega tron plus before. Ended up selling it with a truck, so I have no idea on how long it could of lasted.

I also have a older autozone gold in one of my trucks. I think it's from 03 or 04.
