looking for some 4.88 for my 06 f150. back is 9.75, front is 8.8. noticed on the 8.8 they had "reverse" gears for just a couple bucks more. i inquired, and got some info that they were for front on 4x4 only. got some other info that placement on truck was not the issue, but rather it was just the way the pinion sat on the ring--top or bottom. got info from a "ford dealer that their was no difference (which is very hard to belive) and i could go on and on about what ive heard the difference is........SO IM ASKING ALL OF YOU....because from being on this forum i have come to find out that ALL OF YOU are the true experts. between experiance, intelligence, and hand me down knowledge you guys have the right advise..... .... please help me.....thank you.....

 

You need 8.8" reverse cut gears for the front.

 

Yep, 8.8" reverse for the front. Recommend you contact Wayne from diffsonly.com for more info plus great pricing. He's a real good guy and several on here have worked with him.
