help w/clearing codes

i have a92 f150 xlt 4x4 5.0,i have read some of the info. here about code clearing.disconect neg cable for 15mins &then drive for 15 plus miles.but does this clear the c/engine lite ?????

If you know someone with a device that will scan codes I know you can do it that way but I'm not too sure about how to do it without one.

92's are not OBD2 so what you think of as a code reader is not compatible. You need to read the codes with an EEC scanner or a paperclip and fix the problem before clearing them - if the light comes back on, you haven't fixed the problem.
